Winner 2009

On November 28, 2009 we were present at Holland's biggest and most prestigious show, the Amsterdam Winner in the RAI building. Judging the Tosa's was mr. Norman Deschuymere from Belgium.
Luckily the Tosa's were judged as the first breed, this really is very pleasant for us and the dogs.

At this show, two of our black male Thor's offspring, bred by La Bella Forza Tosa's, became Youth Winners (photo right: youth class males).
An excellent achievement especially since one of these 2 dogs is black, which still is a "difficult" colour for many judges.

Our Storm (Grand Slam) became Best Female and therefore Winster 2009 and later on she took Best Of Breed (photo left).

Cashira Carenos

We received the sad news of the sudden passing away of Cas, the Tosa of Jeroen Zeelenberg.
Cashira Carenos was his official name and he was a son of Gashima Tosa Centrum and Megasthenes Acatenango, born in 2001.
Cas was Jeroen's buddy and we can honestly say that it was love at first sight when they met the first time! When Jeroen met Cas, he was already a young dog and not a puppy, but from the first moment on, Cashira and Jeroen were inseperable. These two had a very special bond and we are so happy Cas has lived his life with Jeroen. He lived a fantastic life that unfortunately had un untimely end.
Jeroen and Roos, please take care and we just know Sjakie will always be with you!

Ellie May

We received an email from George, who lives in Missouri (USA). He is the owner of Ellie May, a litter sister of Ekkie from our 2003 litter. Ellie May is doing very well and already 6 years old. George wrote:

Hey Robert, Mariska,

It been a while and I was thinking of you guys today and I was thinking that you all was wondering how Ellie is doing. Well I am proud to say she is doing great. A great friend to me.

She is such a sweetie. My wife says if I leave the house to go somewhere she will sit a the end of the driveway until I get home....now that's love and I love her too.
I just wanted to give you all a update on Ellie, I sent a pic I took today of her.

Take care, George

Dogshow Bleiswijk

We have yet another show result, this time Dogshow Bleiswijk on Sunday 8th November 2009 in the Flora Holland Hal in Bleiswijk. Judge: Mr. A. de Wilde (Belgium).
Bleiswijk is a very nice show, it was too bad the rings this year were very small for the big breeds.

Puppy showresults and news

The puppies from our latest litters are doing very well, we received pleasing news.

Megasthenes Invasor (Izzy) participated in the World Dog Show in Bratislava and the Slovak Moloss Club Show one day later. He was entered in the Puppy Class and got the qualification 2 Very Promising. At the Moloss Club Show Izzy received the qualification 1 Very Promising. We congratulate Martina and Thomas (Maegashira Kennels) with these results!

Megasthenes Intrepid (Kenzo) was entered in Dortmund, Germany at the Bundessieger and National Zuchtschau. He competed in the Puppyclass and obtained at both shows the qualification VV1, 1st Place Very Promising. The judges only had very excellent critics about Kenzo and made his owners Udo and Heike very proud. Congratulations!

From Limburg, we received these beautiful pictures of Megasthenes Iron Heels, or Bear as she is called at home. Bear really lives up to her name; she is a real teddy-bear and friend for the children. At the (puppy) training, Bear always wants to be in charge and she is one of the most intelligent dogs at this course. We think Bear is a beautiful dog and wish their owners Joost, Loes and the children lots of fun with her!

From the Friesian town Sneek, we received these beautiful pictures of Megasthenes Imperator (Torzo), pictured at 7 and 8 months. Torzo is a real youngster full of mischief and the pride and joy of his owners Cor and Jellina.

This is Indika with her friends in Czech Republic. She is a very lively and obedient girl. At this moment she is growing very fast and all legs...she will take her time but is developing very well.

Hip and elbow scores Nashira

Recently Dyashida TosaKenGolds had her official examinations for both Hips and Elbows. On her hips she scored a C. Her elbows were examined and found completely Free of dysplasia.

Goodbye, Gin

All beautiful things come to an end and so we had to say goodbye to our granny and sweetest girl on August 21, 2009.

The last few weeks before she died her health started to deteriate;she lost her muscletone and walking was getting harder and harder and so the time comes you have to say goodbyeand make the besthumane choice for her, although we still cannot miss her. It has been very hard but it was fair to Gin since she had lived her life and it all came to an end.

We will never find enough words to express our thanks to her, Gin was our base, our sweetheart, the mentrix of the youngsters and above all she was so sweet whether it be humans or animals. Its very rare to find and hold such a dog in a lifetime and although we still are very sad about her passing, we are also grateful she was a part of our lives for more than 11 years. Thank you sweet Gin, you will be in our hearts forever.

This is one of the last pictures we took of Gin and her son Fusa.

Missouri Traveler, another senior Tosa

We recently received some pics that our friends Joel and Sally made of their 11 year old Tosa Missouri Traveler.

Joel stated in his email: "Here are some recent pics of Missouri Traveler. He turned 11 this year and he looks great. Although he is getting slower getting up and down I think he is pretty healthy! Not bad for a couple of old codgers like he and I!"

We are thrilled to see Traveler doing so well, especially since he came to Joel and Sally as a "re-homer". We are sure the visitors of our website will enjoy Travelers pics as much as we do.

Thanks guys and we hope Traveler will enjoy much more time with you!

Happy birthday, Gin!

On June 10,1998, our first litter was born. From this litter we kept 2 sisters, Gin and Tango. Gin...the lively and naughty girl, Tango the lady born for the showring.
In all these years together we have experienced good and bad times and Gin has always been a part of it; pretty special if you come to think of it. Her sister Tango sadly passed away a few years ago. Her sister Ayra, who had a loving home for the last years of her life, passed away last year.

Gin has given us 2 litters. Without a single exception all of her offspring have a golden character, a trait you tend to appreciate more and more through the years. One of Gin's daughters, Fabulous Lola, has been trained and examined to be a Therapydog, something which makes us very proud and shows the character is excellent.
It is great to watch Gin with her son and granddaughter in our house. They truly are a little family; Gin still washes her son Fusa everyday and in the evening her granddaughter Nashira sleeps with Gin.
Certainly the years start counting now for Gin; her grey face, her body not wanting to do everything it used to do, but still those beautiful dark eyes that communicate with you. If we present a ball to her, Gin still plays and catches the ball in her own way... it takes a little while, but hey! when you're this old you are certainly allowed to take your time. It is a pleasure to see her grow old this way.
Sweet sweet Gin, thank you so much for everything you have done for us and still do and we hope we can enjoy you for a long time to come! We are so proud at your 11 years!

Results Alkmaar 2009

The show in Alkmaar took place on the 10th May 2009. Judge: Mr E. Wieldraaijer (NL).

This is a new show on the Dutch agenda. Hopefully next year the organisation will have permission to organise another show. It was held in the Icestadium De Meent in Alkmaar. Lots and lots of space for dogs and exhibitors at the center grounds in the stadium. The dogs laid down in the grass all day in the sunshine.

Unfortunately the rings were quite small for the big breed dogs, so Nashira had trouble staying in balance.

Octopus Ishiyama gained her last point to become a Dutch Champion, congratulations to owners Mayo and Willem!

Two beautiful red female puppies available

Our friend and colleague-breeder Daniele Lissoni has 2 beautiful female Tosa puppies available from his last litter. The parents of these puppies are:

Ch. Megasthenes Djengish

Ch. Bhina Tosakengolds

Both parents are known for their excellent character and besides that have outstanding construction and movement.

The little ladies are very well socialized and are vaccinated, dewurmed and come with an FCI pedigree. They were born on February 1, 2009.

For more information about these puppies you can contact us. We can arrange arrival of the puppy in Holland (or another country). Only serious inquiries please.

DNA

Recently, we have registered the DNA profile of the parents of our I-litter, Thor and Gulch. By means of this profile it will always be possible to trace the genuity of the ancestors of our dogs from now on. Because of recent developments in the dogworld, DNA registration is becoming more important.

This is also the reason we decided to register the DNA of all the puppies in our I-litter. The new puppy-owners will therefore also receive a “Canine Identification Certificate” along with their dog.

We are striving to get all our dogs DNA registered in due course. The dogs that have had their DNA registered will have a DNA logo at their respective pages.

A visit from France

Halfway March, Clotilde Richalet, a French photographer, came to visit us to make a photoshoot of our dogs. Clotilde is working on a book dedicated to the Japanese breeds and the pictures will also be on show the “Japan Expo” exposition in France.

We invited some other owners and breeders to join us in this photoshoot and therefore Megasthenes Djengish, Nihon Koku’s Bushido, Nihon Koku’s Benihime, B.Yasu Du Center Club Moloss Wolf and our Storm were happy to have their pictures taken. The pictures were really beautiful and soon we will publish some on Storm’s own page.

Thank you Clotilde for a nice day!

Results Eindhoven 2009

The show in Eindhoven on Sunday February 8th, 2009, was judged by Mrs H. Assenmacher-Feyel (D). This location is actually too small to accomodate so many dogs. There were a lot of traffic jams at the benches and in the paths, too bad this venue isn't a bit more spacious. The rings were a bit small, but just okay for our size dogs.

At this show 2 dogs gained a title: Megasthenes Grand Slam By Gulch finally had the appropriate age to become Dutch Champion and she did, and Nihon Koku's Bushido became Dutch Youth Champion! As a nice bonus, Shido also became Best of Breed.
